All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)  has threatened to recall members of the House of Representatives from Anambra State, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last week,  describing them as betrayers.

Already, the national leadership of the party has vowed to recover its mandate from the lawmakers , even though it saw their defection as a “non-issue.”

Speaking on the development, a member of APGA Board of Trustees, Chief  Rommy Ezeonwuka,  said at the weekend, in Nnewi, that even though the lawmakers had not informed the party officially,  appropriate measures would be taken to recall them, “since they have betrayed us.”

He said there was nothing wrong for members of a political party to defect to another party but argued that such  defectors should not continue to enjoy their membership of the National Assembly, when the platform that took them to the House had been jettisoned.

“Politics is all about interest, but I am warning those who have betrayed the trust of the APGA faithful, that they should be treated as betrayers. The betrayal syndrome has done a lot of harm to the Igbo man right from the time of Biafra-Nigeria civil war. Some Igbo people have continued to betray the confidence reposed in them. We are disappointed in them because APGA is an Igbo identity, a party that unites the Igbo and that is our legacy. Those who defected are political prostitutes. They have been prostituting with many political parties. We know them,” Ezeonwuka said.
