SSS warns Nigerians against provocative statement, summons El-Rufai


Mallam Nasir el-RufaiThe Department of State Security Service, SSS, on Thursday, cautioned politicians to refrain from making provocative statements ahead of 2015 general elections.

According to the agency, anyone who does not desist from such, will face the full weight of the law.

A statement issued by Marilyn Ogar, the Agency’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, said the attention of the Service had been drawn to incessant provocative statements by some Nigerians, threatening violence ahead of the election.

“Such comments are offensive, misguided and directed at stirring hate among Nigerians, she said.

“This service and other law enforcement agencies have the mandate to protect the country and its citizens.

“We, therefore, warn all subversive elements that are bent on promoting divisive and disruptive agenda to refrain from such as the full weight of the law shall henceforth be brought to bear accordingly.”

Ogah urged Nigerians to remain law abiding and assist security agencies in ensuring the safety of all.

Meanwhile, the Service has invited former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to appear before it and defend his inciting statement about 2015 election, where he said that the election would likely turn violent and that many people would likely die in the process.
