Nigeria's Democracy Is Hanging- Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has described Nigeria’s current democracy as ‘hanging democracy’.

Speaking on the developments in Imo state, Governor Okorocha explained that the Community Government Council (CGC) is a new innovation by the state government to enable the indigenes of the state benefit from the development.

He stated that the development of the CGC has helped to check insecurity and reduce crime in the state.

Governor Okorocha who speaking to newsmen ahead of the Governors’ Forum Retreat in Port Harcourt, said that during his campaign to become governor, he assured the indigenes of adequate security which he said he has put in place with the help of the traditional rulers and the youths under the development of the Community Government Council.

He noted that leaving the job for the police alone will not save the community, as the help of the youths and the vigilante will add to security consciousness in the state.

 He further stated that poverty is one of the causes of insecurity in the state, “if poverty is solved, insecurity will reduce”.
