Ihedioha, Opara, Uzodinma, 6 others jostle for Imo Govt House

From DENNIS MERNYI, Abuja

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, Chief Perry Opara, a Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Adviser (SSA) on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak and Senator Hope Uzodima are among the top 10 contenders for the Imo Government House when Governor Rochas Okorocha’s tenure ends.

Also fingered as eyeing the governorship seat are Captain Emma Ihenacho, former Minister of Interior; Bethel Amadi, Jerry Chukwueke and Senator Chris Anyanwu.

It was gathered that the strongest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contender for the Imo governorship position so far is Ihedioha but his alliance with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, could adversely affect his ambition just as the opposition was said to be out to discredit him and possibly ensure his removal as the deputy speaker.

The other two front runners for now, sources said are Hope Uzodinma, who is from Orlu zone, which had produced former governor Achike Udenwa and the incumbent, Rochas Okorocha, and Perry Opara from Owerri zone.
