ABUJA—The Department of  Security Service, DSS, Thursday released ex-militant and leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, after several hours of interrogation.

Asari, who arrived at the headquarters of the DSS in Abuja at 9.45am was quizzed for hours and released around 4pm.

The self acclaimed warlord who spent over six hours with the Service, was said to have been cautioned before allowing to go home.

The ex-militant was invited by the DSS, following his alleged inflammatory statements in connection to the 2015 election, in which he said there will be bloodshed, if President Goodluck Jonathan was not re-elected.

The Deputy Director Deputy Director, Public Relations Department of State Services, Marilyn Ogar, told Vanguard in Abuja, earlier that Asari-Dokubo was invited for interrogation over inflammatory remarks.

She said, “Asari-Dokubu is still with us. He is being interrogated. We invited him, Asari-Dokubu the same way we invited former Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mallam el-Rufai. Asari-Dokubo honoured out invited but el-Rifai refused and instead insisting on warrant of arrest.

She added that “El-Rufai was arrested but Asari-Dokubo was not arrested because he honoured our invited and he is now with us undergoing interrogation,” she said.
